Brave little girl
5 month
This morning Emma had her 5 months check by the GP. Plunket appointment is on Friday morning.
The GP did a good check on her, everything is normal and good.
She tried to measure her length as well but without proper equipment, this is a rough measure. She's around 68cm now.
Head is 42cm.
Then there was the weighing.... well the uni health centre doesn't normally do babies, so they don't have a baby scale. So it's the case of mum stands on the scale, then hold the baby... then work out the difference... roughly 8kgs.
I guess we will have the plunket nurse double check all these.
I think it just means she's grown quite a bit and almost 8kgs :)
Then there was the injection time...
I was a bit worried about how to settle her afterwards, because the last two times, I breastfed her afterwards to calm her down. Although, last two times, it also happened to be feed time, so part of her crying was actually for food as well as not happy with the needles.
She normally cried for a short time for the first 2 shots and would stop as soon as the injection stops until the 3rd needle in, then she's not impressed and would cried for a few minutes.
Today, we turned her onto her side and was busy distracting her.
First needle went in, she looked confused and a little annoyed... as if she's saying, 'hey what's going on here?'
Second needle went in, she started to get a bit more annoyed and started to grizzle.
Very quickly, the third needle went in, she started crying. Not happy about this.
But as soon as it's done, daddy pulled her hand and said.. "up" which is the normal signal for her to sit up (with some help from us)... she sat up with support from us... and started looking around and smiling again.
Wow, what a brave little girl!! :)
