Starting solids

Yesterday at the 5 months check up, we've talked to the GP about starting solids. She reckons if Emma is waking up at night for food, then sure, start her on solids.

Of course, this is a graduate process and she only starts from 1 teaspoon at a time.

After visiting the supermarket, we couldn't find the baby rice that we were after, so it was the fruity apple from Watties.

We've been told to get the video camera ready, so we did.

Emma has been sitting on the high chair fine and likes it.
We sat her there and then out come the spoon and a little bit of food.

First bite, I think she wasn't too sure... some of the food went down fine, others came out under the lower lip. Then we got another bit of food on the tip of the spoon and hold the spoon near her mouth. Then you watch her lean forward with her mouth wide open... she seems to like it.
Well maybe a little unsure but she sure is keen to eat this new food!

It was quite fun to watch, too!

Eventually I think she decided she will eat her hand instead. :P

First day at Daycare

Today is the first day Emma starts daycare. She will be in daycare on Tuesday and Thursdays from now. I also have the person from property management company coming over to take photos of our house for renting at 2pm. So, I was busy cleaning and tidying up the house while she's at daycare. After I got everything done and just got out of the shower, I got a call from the daycare. At first I thought, oh no... but then, they only called to let me know that Emma is okay... just in case I'm wondering but feel bad to call. So apparently she had her bottle shortly after daddy dropped her off. Then went to sleep for 2.5 hours... Had another 200ml and was playing on the floor when they called me around 12:45. She told me that Emma is a really easy baby, so far. Sounds very good! I think she behaves better there!! At home, sometimes she won't go to sleep... gets too happy... Hmm... :P At least we know she's okay in daycare... and mum is okay today, very busy actually! :P Sally

Woo finally rolling over caught on video!

This morning when I was getting Emma out of the bed for her 2nd feed, I couldn't find the camera's memory card. Oh well, so I put her down for tummy time anyway and thinking, I bet she's gonna roll over this time and we'd miss it on video again! Yep! Damn! Later I found the memory card and put her on video again... but it only has 7 mins left! Bummer... I thought she might roll over just as the camera is running out of memory... no no, she didn't. Very close so many times though! But now I know what the secret is for her rolling over... She'd have one arm straight and pushing hard, the other tucked in... and she always likes to wiggle to a certain direction very hard... and babies have heavier heads :P So... she just keeps pulling towards one direction and... way she goes... rolls over.
