Moving...

This is the first time I've been on the computer after we've moved on Saturday... (well computer was packed on Friday night) Still settling in... well more like battling with boxes and boxes of crap.. but making good progress so far. I'm really glad that most o the stuff in the kitchen are unpacked, and bathroom was the easiest place, as we have a tiny bathroom :P So not much stuff there... same for laundry. But lots of stuff like duvet covers, extra blankets etc etc... we gave out a few sets of stuff and lots of pillows! Afterall, how many pillows do we need at home? :P So yeah... the list goes on... I'm most happy about finally sorted out Emma's room today. So it's all nice.. for now... until we get a king single bed, then it's another battle of trying to fit the bed in there. Although, by then we might just set up the changing and feeding "stations" around the bed, and return the changing table to its original owner :P We will see... Still got l...

I've been busy! Before: After: My deck was rotting so I replaced all the wood. It took a few days, mainly because I'm soft and struggled to pull out all the nails. :)

More biting + sit ups + more

15 wk + 5/7 Just wanted to note that she's definitely biting on things now, and taking things into her mouth and bite... I put my finger in her mouth a few times yesterday and noticed that she's not just using her tongue to push it out or sucking it... she bites it first... chews on it for a bit, then suck it... Also more and more drooling, too ^^;;; She's also doing more and more sit ups now, on the play gym, on the pillow... whenever she can... even in the cot! And the capsule!! Now she can wiggle herself out of the capsule easily when she's a bit upset... or maybe she's just playing, as today she managed to be half in the capsule and half out, didn't seem too unhappy... So maybe she is trying to work out how to escape out of the thing. She can escape out of the wraps now and at times the wraps would be over her head causing problems. So we can't wrap her arms up anymore... *sigh* hopefully this also means she can sleep with her arms free now, otherwise......

Haircut & Shower...

I thought I will note this down.. Thursday evening, first time I had a haircut after Emma was born.. becoz she's started grabbing things more.. including my hair. The hairdresser is actually a neighbour. We've never tried becoz... what if we don't like the haircut... felt like it might be a bit weird... But she's a lovely lady! One who looks out for neighbours and the neighbourhood! A very nice lady! I kind of regret that we didn't introduce ourselves earlier and didn't get to know her earlier. She made me feel that I should start paying more attention to what's happening around our house more and look out for the neighbourhood more! So.. my hair is shorter now... not that anyone had noticed, as it's always been tied up now :P As for showering... yes I do shower regularly, even though sometimes I do forget, as I don't really go out anyway ... So why noting it down? Because yesterday, ebs had to work a long day! Left home at 6am and got home just befo...

Biting...

15 weeks + 3/7 This morning when I was feeding her on the boob... she bit me. Normally she would sort of bite a little or chew a little but usually soft... but this was the first time that was a hard bite! Ouch! Definitely exploring using her mouth more... Was holding her and she started from my shoulder down to my arm... little patches of slobbers on my clothes... Later in the day, we had a pot luck. When uncle Jo was holding her, she said she could feeing her jaws, not just slobbering... she was trying to bite :P Oh dear! This little one hasn't been eating much these two days.. (today and yesterday)... and after milk, she'd be eating her hands... hmm... and she hasn't pooed yesterday and today (not yet)... Wednesday she didn't poo and Thursday had two poos. So when she didn't poo yesterday (Friday), I thought maybe she will have two today.... but not yet... Hmm... weird... We will see how she does later tonight and tomorrow... before I decide if I need to ring som...

What a trip...

Yesterday after my physio appointment at uni, I had a quick work meeting for 1.5 hours. Then... I went off to Bunnings to pick up something for work. That's the start of the "fun trip" of the day... First I got there and decided to park at a spot in the last minute, so I didn't do a good parking job. Then I tried to correct it but still over the line to the park on the right. I thought, there's like 100 other parks and also quite a few one next to that anyway.. who cares. So I went to do my shopping. Came out... another car parked so closed to me (as it was in the lines but I was over the line :P) so I had to climb in from the passenger side. Then I found a note on my windscreen calling me an asshole. I was too lazy to climb out to get it. I got to Pak's Save and read the note.. it said something like... Thank you for parking so close, next time you should leave a can opener so I can get my car out. Asshole like you should take the bus. Funny. (it's one of...

Salvation Army

Wednesday morning, Salvation Army came over to pick up some beds... So, with their van, there was a double bed, a king single bed, a box of CD/Books/Magazines and a box of random household stuff... and yes.. finally, my 31 year old dressing table is gone, too. The guys came over to pick up the beds were happy with the condition, asking why we are getting rid off them.. they rarely see good condition beds like these given to them. I guess this is when mum's mattress protector works rather well, eh. Not a single stain on the bed :P Anyways, now the house looks more empty... oh well, still got lots to pack, lots to throw out! Sally

Woo I got my own dummy.. :D

Yesterday as Andrew was watching Emma in the study... she was in the capsule on his desk.. Then, apparently, she grab hold of her dummy and put it in her mouth. If only this was intentional, then we'd be so thrilled!! Of course this was purely accidental! (doh!) She basically grabs anything she can get and stick it into her mouth now :P Oh well... someday... we won't have to get up to put the dummy in at night. She is getting better in the last 3 nights.. so fingers crossed. Sally

6 hours of sleep...at last

After over a week of not much sleeping, or rather interruptive ones... Yesterday, after being in the daycare for most of the day... the little one came home happily and was quite well behaved, even during the evening time. That night, she started her final feed around 7:40pm and was in bed by 8:20pm. We were in bed around 8:30 ish. I did wake up before midnight I think, but back to sleep straight away... and the first time she cried, was 2:30am... so we had a good 6 hour sleep. But, the problem was... I think my body was used to not enough sleep, so it was a little wide awake after that... so I was lying in bed for over an hour half sleeping and half awake and just about to fall asleep... she cried. It was 4am. Before she woke up, the hubby was already up.. he couldn't sleep either. So he was up making some random noises as he does when he gets up... But I was quite pleased with Emma. 6 hours, then 1.5 hours.... then again at 4:30 but she needed her feed then. After the feed, she w...

First day at Daycare

Today is the first day Emma starts daycare. She will be in daycare on Tuesday and Thursdays from now. I also have the person from property management company coming over to take photos of our house for renting at 2pm. So, I was busy cleaning and tidying up the house while she's at daycare. After I got everything done and just got out of the shower, I got a call from the daycare. At first I thought, oh no... but then, they only called to let me know that Emma is okay... just in case I'm wondering but feel bad to call. So apparently she had her bottle shortly after daddy dropped her off. Then went to sleep for 2.5 hours... Had another 200ml and was playing on the floor when they called me around 12:45. She told me that Emma is a really easy baby, so far. Sounds very good! I think she behaves better there!! At home, sometimes she won't go to sleep... gets too happy... Hmm... :P At least we know she's okay in daycare... and mum is okay today, very busy actually! :P Sally

Woo... we want to do sit ups

Emma has started lifting her head up while she's on the tri-pillow in between feeds... So she's on an angle, head higher... and she'd try to lift her head up... + the normal wiggling and moving around. Yesterday morning, as she was playing on the play gym with aunty Megy, she had her feet on the air and also lifting her head up... looks like she's trying to do a crunch or something. She definitely is having more control of her head... I've been told that lifting head thing would help exercise the muscles needed for her to sit up on her own later... Would be fun when she can sit up... and we can bath her in the little bath tube sitting up without her head and feet knocking on both ends. Now sometimes she actually prefers to sit up instead of lying on the floor in the play gym. Time to move her onto the rocker... :P Sally

We like to sing along with daddy

I've started taking more videos of the little one not too long ago... It's easier than taking photos of her to catch cool moments sometimes... One of the video I've taken was when daddy was holding her (while she was in the capsule) and singing to her. She got so excited and happy... she was giggling and talking along with him. It is very sweet... If I get the permission to put it up online.... I will put up the link :P Sally

Emma - not sleeping well

From Monday night last week (8th Oct), Emma hasn't been sleeping well at nights. Night 1, woke up from midnight and started to cry for dummy every 30-60mins. Night 2, woke up from 11pm... then almost every hour... (we didn't wrap her arms) Night 3, probably growth sprut or something, was fed at 3am and the last feed at 11:30pm, but only woke up 2-3 times before the first feed next day, so that wasn't too bad. Night 4, the night she had the injection....also started not wrapping her arms... unfortunately still not sleeping well. Not too much better in the weekends either.... So mum's really missing her sleep and wondering if it's something we are doing wrong... Or it's part of a learning process for her to learn to sleep with her arms free? Or something else is waking her up at night? Wondering when she will eventually sleep through the night! Because she's done so well, she started having a longer sleep at night from about 3 weeks. (4 hourly feed but will ha...

Hmm... can I suck/eat that, too?

Apart from sucking her hands/fingers more, she's also started to grab things more. On Friday, (12th Oct) when she was at home with grandma, grandma pulled the string of her musical toy to have the music on... there's a little blue moon at the end of the string. She grabbed it and starting to eat it... We've normally put some blankets over her and there's a few times she's sucking on those... Well more like she was trying to suck her hand but the blanket is in the way. While she's in the capsule, sometimes we put the muslin over to cover her up, so she doesn't get too distracted. But recently she's been pulling it down and eating it instead... ^^;;; I've also noticed that while she's lying in the capsule, she starts to grab on the blanket more. Sometimes while she's being fed, she grabs my shirt as well. Definitely using her hands more now :) Sally

Hmm... yummy hands...

Emma has been sucking her hands more and more often in the last week and a half... Mostly she sucks her left hand (fist) and every now and then she sucks the right hand... She's also started to open the hand a bit more and suck on the fingers... Yesteday she put her hand in there and had a really funny expression, as if she was going to cry soon... then carried on sucking the hand... She's definitely finding her hands more and more interesting for sure! Sally

14 Weeks measurements

Emma had her appointment with the Plunket nurse on Thursday, 11th Oct. She's now 6.15kg, 62cm and head cir. 39.5cm The nurse has also checked her out and found that her legs are not alligned and wanted the GP to check on it. The GP said it was fine. The nurse also checked her by pulling her up to sit up when she was on her back, and said.. "what a strong girl you are!" (something like that)... She also asked if Emma started sucking her own hands, which she has... and suggested that maybe we can stop wrapping her hands up in bed and perhaps she can suck her hand to sleep instead of waking up crying for the dummy.... More updates on that later! Sally

Woo finally rolling over caught on video!

This morning when I was getting Emma out of the bed for her 2nd feed, I couldn't find the camera's memory card. Oh well, so I put her down for tummy time anyway and thinking, I bet she's gonna roll over this time and we'd miss it on video again! Yep! Damn! Later I found the memory card and put her on video again... but it only has 7 mins left! Bummer... I thought she might roll over just as the camera is running out of memory... no no, she didn't. Very close so many times though! But now I know what the secret is for her rolling over... She'd have one arm straight and pushing hard, the other tucked in... and she always likes to wiggle to a certain direction very hard... and babies have heavier heads :P So... she just keeps pulling towards one direction and... way she goes... rolls over. Finally... in the afternoon, when I was playing with her on tummy time again... video on... after so many close ones... she finally rolls over and caught on camera! Yah! (These p...

Daddy's idea of "Hard at work"

Image
Now, this has been a while... This photo was taken when we were still living at my parents' place during my confinement period after birth. So Emma was under 6 weeks at the time. Daddy had the opportunities of staying home and help feeding Emma formula, after she had some breast milk from mum. And... this is dad's idea of hard at work helping to look after Emma... Sorry you'd have to tilt your head to see this one ^^;;; ps. notice the remote controller in his hand and where he is paying his attention to... Sally

Huh? What's going on...

This little missy had started getting distracted during the feed on the boob.. especially after she had a bit of milk already, she's not so hungry anymore.. She started doing this on Tuesday, the last feed. She'd latch on, suck for a few seconds only, then comes off and looks at me. Then latches on again, then comes off, then look at me again. Sometimes gives me a smile, then goes back... so the feeding becomes a bit of a laugh ^^;;;; It'd be me saying hey, get back to drinking, she sucks for a little, then looks at me again... as if she's saying.. do I really have to? Can I go now? :P Oh dear.... ^^ Sally

Making Daddy proud

Yesterday just before lunch time, I took off to let my parents into their house... as they've locked themselves out after their walk in the morning. I thought I should be back in time to fed the little one but she was hungry and daddy gave her a bottle. But she was being rather difficult, fighting and screaming and all... (which is a bit of a worry as she started to fight the bottle, chewing on the boobs, coming off, on and off regularly rather than latching on properly...) Then finally she's done and playing on the play gym. As usual, if the TV is on, every now and then you see her little head leaning back so far trying to watch TV. Well, Daddy was watching Rugby game replay... Then... well South Africa let through a try by USA. Yes, how sad. It sort of like Brazil letting China through to get a goal in World Cup Soccer (not that had happened I think.. but you get the picture). All of a sudden there was a loud cry from the little one. We thought she was too tired or something ...

Sleeping through better for the first time!

Today she's one day short from being 13 weeks and 2 days short from being 3 months old! We fed her around 8 ish last night and she was in bed before 8:50 and we were in bed by 9. I woke up at 2:40am needing to go to the bathroom, then realised... hey she hasn't cried yet. So I was being so careful and being so quiet... just in case. Then eventually I heard her crying and went put the dummy in while I was still sort of half asleep... looked at the time in her bed.. Wow, 4:30?! Oh I can get used to this! Keep it up little girl. Well I won't hold my breath just yet but hey if she can do it once, maybe she can do it twice and more... we will just keep waiting for it :) And well... put the dummy back in at 4:30, next time she woke was 6, then again dummy... (while I go get myself sorted), came back... she's sleeping again. So I didn't feed her again till almost 7. Wow. Fingers crossed that this is the sign of good things to come... *Sally being hopeful* Sally
