Eat the teddy

I've found a teddy! Yah... I wonder what it tastes like... Maybe eating my own hand is better?? Let's compare... After all these eating... so tired.. *yawn*

We don't want to sleep through the night yet

20wk + 6/7 Last night, we were hoping she might have discovered how to sleep through the night, as the example of Monday night. But no... started crying from around 9pm, fed again at 10:45pm... then eventually again at 1, then 2am.. a big poo. Fair enough. I changed her but then she was a little too awake and too happy... started talking to herself for 30 mins... eventually got a little upset, fed her again, but only had 35 ml... and finally looks like she's going to sleep. So I went back to bed... oh wait, what's that? She's talking to herself again! Doh! Eventually she went down at 3:15am, 55mins later, woke up, dummy in... finally sleeps again... woke again at 5 something... then slept. So I didn't get out of the bed till 7:30 :P Man, we are going to try and work out why she's waking up at night. So we can all have some sleep!!! Sally

New bedtime routine

We've never been big on bathing the baby... for various reasons. So Emma didn't get bath very often, well twice a week? Sometimes more, sometimes less :P She hates it anyway. So once we tried to shower with her. She seems to like it better, well scream less in the first few times. Once when grandma was taking her clothes off, she was already shivering... scared of being bathed... Now, she really enjoys the shower! As the weather is getting warmer and warmer... now, after sitting on daddy's lap watching mum and grandparents eat dinner. Then it's off to the bathroom, lying on the floor on the layers of towels and changing mat... etc to play for a bit, while mum or dad showers first. Then it's Emma's turn to shower. She'd stare at the shower head as if she's working out what's going on... sometimes she'd eat my shoulder when I am holding her... in general, just rather happy. Then she gets handed over to whoever is out of the shower first (or wasn...

Sleeping through for 8 hours!

20weeks+6/7 Sunday night, I had a really bad night sleep. Basically, I was in bed around 9 and she was up from around 10, then 11... but from 11-2:30 I didn't sleep at all. So I had about 3 hours sleep from 2:30 to 5:30... I was so buggered when I got up. In the morning, I wasn't too bad, but was a bit ill every time I eat something.. I want to throw up. No, not pregnant for sure! I know the difference. My stomach feels really tight and weird...I just feel sick. It may be related to the lack of sleep? Anyways, I left work before 2pm to get home and get some rest. I slept for 2 hours... Last night, ebs insisted that I must have some sleep. So after we showered Emma and put her down to sleep, ebs took her to sleep downstairs in the rumpus in her portable cot. He made himself a little bed downstairs on the floor. I wasn't too sure about that but I really needed some sleep. So I was in bed by 8. But I couldn't sleep in the beginning. It just feels so weird, I don't know...

Breastfeeding Emma

I think it's been almost a month now that Emma has started refusing to drink from the boobs... which started this whole expressing fun game... Eventually I did get her to feed on the boobs at night feeds and sometimes first feed in the morning... Last night, that didn't work either... which means I had to express this morning. Every now and then, she won't drink the expressed milk either... not really because of the milk.. just because it is still quite hard to figure out when she's hungry or not. So some of those ended up down the drain anyway... So I have to ask myself... is it having 50ml a day count as being breastfed? I was hoping to keep going till she starts soilds, or maybe at least make it to 5 months... Now... I'm not so sure... we will just see how it goes... After I started working, I barely have any time for myself... more work on the household finance has piled higher and higher on my desk and being ignored for the time bing... So many other things I w...

Holding onto her feet

Emma has been holding her legs up while I change her nappy... then lifting her tummy up... AND getting all hyper, kicking and moving/wiggling a lot as well at the same time ^^;; Recently she's been holding onto her feet more... even in bed or on the play gym. Now she can hold one of her foot with one hand... Sometimes she will try both hands... and try to bring it to her mouth... but she hasn't managed to suck it yet... ^^;; I am a little worried when she does... as her toe nails are quite sharp and I don't really know how to cut them with the nail clipper I have... Oh well... :P But now she can definitely pull her feet all the way up to her mouth... Definitely getting stronger and stronger! :) Sally

Rolling over and back...

20wks + 3/7 It's been a while since Emma rolled over by herself. She's been getting more attention and having more people around to hold her, play with her and let her sit with us etc... So she isn't all that keen to play on the floor by herself all the time or even most of the time anymore.. Today, after going out for grocery shopping with mum and grandma... she had a little nap in the car. Got home, got changed, then she decided she's full of beans and not want to go back to sleep. So she was playing on the floor by herself for a bit... She's been lifting her legs up and holding her feet... and turning onto her side from there from time to time... I took the camera out to take a short video of that.. while I was doing that, she decided she will roll over to her tummy.... but her left arm got a little stuck... so she rolled back but now her legs are stuck on the bars on the play gym... struggling a little but she managed to land back on her back before I got to he...

Shower

Little Emma has been getting washed a bit more often now... She hates the bath, still, I think? But she likes showering with mum or dad... or both ^^''' We found that, it's easier for ebs to hold her, and I wash her. She seems rather happy and staring at the shower head so seriously at times... Sometimes I wonder if she's still trying to figure out what's going on... or wondering what that thing is... But, hey, at least we found a way to wash her without constant screaming! :) Sally

22 Nov 2007

Today... there's 2 important things happened... well at least two :P 1) Our house in Pakuranga has rented out and tenants moved in today. 2) Sally managed to pass the PRINCE2 foundation exam, without reading the testbook. This is probably the only time I didn't study very hard for an exam. All I did was: turned up to the courses, read the slides once more at night... never been that slack before! :P Anyways... Sally

Poor little Emma

18-19 weeks The last few days hasn't been fun for both Emma and mum... well and the rest of the family in the house I guess. She has diarrheao for 7 days now, so the nappy rash got worse. Also had a bit of tummy pain with it as well... apparently it's viral. She also has a bit of cold, mainly a blocked nose and was sounding a bit chesty, too. But that chesty sound stopped first... but the blocked nose is still there. So she has been a bit grizzly. We've taken her to the GP yesterday, actually took her to my GP at Uni... and decided to switch her over. Because my GP is very very nice! Emma only had a different GP because I didn't know the uni one would take her. Long story short as I've been quite busy as well... with work and Emma refusing the boobs so I have to express a few times a day... etc etc Anyways, so the little one is a bit more sleepy during the mornings, grizzly at night... and I still don't get much quality sleep at night. Oh well... at least she se...

Are those teeth?

18 weeks On Wednesday, I was working from home... Mum was helping to look after her. Then she came over to tell me, she thinks there's something wrong with Emma. There's like an ulcer or some sort in her mouth... It's probably not a tooth because it is more closer to the inside of the gum. So I checked... Yes I can see it, looks a little swallen up, too. That might explain why she likes the bonjela, even though she hates the taste of it... I said to mum, yeah, I can see it, it's on the right hand side. She then went, no it's on the left hand side! So I checked again, wait... there is another one, a matching one on the left... Hmm... so these must be teeth then. They haven't cut through yet but they are visible now... and they were not there before! I think this may have explained the extra night feeds and grizzling etc.. Also explain the extra biting and drooling... and liking her cooled teething rings.. .well like biting on them! :P Sally

Lift those legs/feet

17wks + 6/7 This afternoon, she was on her play gym kicking around... She lifted her legs so high... over 90 degrees... looks like she was trying to use the legs to catch that big star on her playgym... Of course this resulted in lots of spilling... doh! Sally

Yah, my hands are free!

17wk + 6/7 As of yesterday, little Emma doesn't get wrapped up for sleeping anymore at night. Well she hasn't been sleeping well at night, and been refusing to go to bed as well... So we thought, give that a go and see... Result is a little too early to tell yet... :P Sally

Busy busy

After we've moved back to mum's, I haven't had much time to be on the computer... Mainly because first week here, I was trying to unpack and was also back towork for 3 days. Plus now Emma has been awaking more... and took her almost a week to settle into the new place... so she was a bit more work than she was before. On top of all that, her nice sleeping pattern of 6 hours, wake, dummy, another 2-3 hours only lasted 4 nights. So I'm back to the lack of sleep and still trying to do everything while she's not needing a lot of attention... So yeah... I'm hoping maybe we will get one or two nights of good sleep soon? Sally

Night feeds are back!

In the last 5-6 days or so? Emma's been wanting a feed like 3 or 4 am, twice at 12:45am... and she doesn't go back down and do the non-stop sleeping for 3-4 hours after that feed either... :( I'm not sure what this is about but yeah I hope this is only a short phase. She's also starting to refuse to go to bed when she's obvioulsly tired... ^^;; takes a bit of time to put her to sleep... although ebs has started trying bonjela and seems to work?? She's also refusing to feed off the boobs except the night feeds from about 2-3 days ago... so now I have to express more often than I was :-S Oh well... time to go back to entertain her... Sally

Happy little Emma

Hmm.. yummy lips

This little one has discovered that she has lips... well.. sucking her lips is more fun than drinking her milk! So she's been sitting there making sucking noises, sucking her own lips all day! Well even when she was supposed to be drinking the milk! :P Sally
